I have been looking into my family history and have very quickly stumbled across what would appear to be a rich vein of Hobro history; as I am starting from scratch I know nothing at all about your area or why it would appear to be called Hobro! I am not even sure that it is called Hobro and only have some searches on Google to suggest that it is.

I'd be grateful if you could provide any details you have on the history of the area and in particular my family connection to it, or perhaps point me in the direction of some local literature which would help.

Thank you

As you have registered an interest in the new Wolverley Memorial Project we are writing to let you know, that following the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Memorial Sports and Social Club, we now have agreement to move forward to build a combined Memorial Hall for the whole community to use.

Our next step is to employ architects to expand on our working ideas to a feasibility stage, to do this we must raise money. Though there are plenty of grants available, which we are actively pursuing, we must as a community, raise funds to show our community’s commitment.

We therefore want to get all the people who have registered an interest or know of others who might want to help start raising money. This may be in the form of having money raising ideas or simply willing to sell tickets or collect money.

This is a crucial time for the project, the community must come together to show that there is a common need and to show that our community can raise the necessary finances.

We would like to invite all interested parties to a meeting to discuss community fund raising ideas on Tuesday 4th November 2014 at 7.30 p.m. at The Sports & Social Club. We welcome all ideas and everyone who is willing to assist in this project.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Many thanks

I'm not sure I have the right email address, so would be grateful if you would pass on this query to the relevant person.

I would like to know if anyone knows something of the history of Blakeshall.  If not, whether a member of the Historical Society lives in that area.  I have spoken to this group and know some of the members, but I specialise in the history of Bewdley, which is where I live.

Many thanks,

Heather Flack

FAO: Wolverley & Cookley Community Web Site

I am writing to you on behalf of the Wolverley Memorial Hall Sub-Committee, which is investigating obtaining funding for the rebuilding of a combined Memorial Hall and Sports and Social Club.

As you will be aware for over 50 years the Memorial Hall and Sports and Social Club have served the community well. It is, however now apparent that both of these buildings have reached a point where they are fast approaching a point where they are beyond economical repair, if not there already.

Following initial consultation with the major interested parties, it has been decided to try and raise money to build a new combined Wolverley Memorial Sports and Social Club. In order to service the needs of current and future users of this exciting facility, we would be interested in any observations, comments and requests from your association, club or society. Also, As past, present or possible future users, we would like to hear why, you stopped using, continue to use, or what would make you consider using the facility. This is so we can regain, maintain or obtain your future patronage, we are aiming to to encourage as many groups as possible to use the new combined facility as a first choice option.

In addition, we will be holding a public meeting at Wolverley Sports and Social Club at 7:30pm on the evening of Monday 7th July, where we hope to meet with you to discuss all ideas. A poster for this event is attached, should you wish to promote it to your members. This is the beginning of a long process and we are determined to provide the facilities that a modern community requires.

Please put forward your suggestions/requests no matter how large, small, significant or relatively insignificant. These can be submitted as bullet points, notes or letter, by email or post. We promise we will evaluate each and every proposal. While we cannot hope to incorporate everyone's wish list, it is the aim of the committee to adopt as many ideas as is feasible in order to make the project as inclusive as possible.

Yours sincerely

Lucy Brown
